Who We Are Arizona Animal Rescue
and Sanctuary (AZARS) is
non-profit, all volunteer organization consisting of experienced
and dedicated rescue people who were previously doing animal
rescue work independently and realized the benefits of joining
together to combine their experience, knowledge, and resources.
Our Purpose
The
purpose of Arizona Animal Rescue & Sanctuary is
to rescue, rehabilitate (when necessary) and place domestic
animals into stable homes, to educate the public about the
responsibilities of pet ownership in an attempt to alleviate the
problem of unwanted pets, and to build public awareness about the
human-animal bond and its benefits to society
Our Mission
It
is the mission of
Arizona Animal Rescue & Sanctuary to
eliminated euthanasia as a means of controlling the population of
unwanted dogs and cats. Between February and July of 2006 over
20,000 animals were euthanized in Maricopa County alone! As you
can see, AZARS has a long way
to go to realize their goal. We can only succeed with your help and
cooperation.
Maddie's Fund
Maddie's
FundŽ, the Pet Rescue Foundation, is a family
foundation established in 1999 to help fund the creation of a
no-kill nation. The first step is to help create programs that
guarantee loving homes for all healthy shelter dogs and cats
throughout the country. The next step will be to save the sick and
injured pets in animal shelters nationwide.
Arizona
Animal Rescue & Sanctuary is a proud
member of Maddie's Fund. Maddie's Fund is active in Maricopa
County through Maddie's Pet Rescue Project and Maddie's
Spay/Neuter Project. Funded in November 2002 Maddie's Pet Rescue
Project is working with Maddie's Spay/Neuter Project in Maricopa
County to end the killing of healthy and treatable shelter dogs and
cats countywide within ten years. Please click here to learn more
